The Difference Between In House and Agency Fashion PR Work

What exactly does a fashion public relations professional do? That depends on what side of the industry you work in.  Fashion public relations, similar to other fields, is split in two.  You can work in house or for an agency.  So whats the difference?

A job working in house means working exclusively for one brand.  The public relations or communications department works to spread and improve the brands image.  Gaining exposure for the brand is key.  This is done through communicating with the press, magazines, celebrities, stylists and anybody else that would gain exposure for the brand.

Working for an agency is a little different.  At an agency, you have to juggle multiple clients at the same time.  It is a fast pace environment.  A public relations professional for an agency works alongside the public relations team for a brand to help them with anything they need.  Agencies do more large scale work such as event planning for fashion shows.

The key difference between in house and agency fashion public relations is whether you work for one client or multiple clients.  If you are looking to start a career, you first need to decide which type is right for you.
